The God Who Covers Our Shame

It is a fact that we deserve judgment from God when we sin against Him. Though God doesn’t ignore the sin, He rather lets us know how our sin brings destruction in our lives and separation from Him. When shame comes it tends to make one hide, but God doesn’t want that, He wants us to confront the sin and seek truth so we are set free. He wants us to confess what we’ve done and not allow shame to hold us back. Shame often comes saying “God can’t use you because you’ve sinned against Him”. That is a lie from the pit of hell. Adam and Eve were ashamed that they disobeyed God and hid. Though they had to pay the consequence of their sin, God still loved them.

Here is what I LOVE about GOD!!! Gen 3:15 says: “He cursed the serpent he said, “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel”. This was the prophecy of Jesus coming to defeat sin and Satan. Did you notice that God had already set into place restoration from the sin Adam and Eve committed? He knew they would sin but had already redeemed them!!! Eve’s offspring would defeat death even though death began with them! Mankind today would say Eve didn’t deserve that. Oh, but God is not like man! The shame lies to us and tells us we can’t be used because of what we’ve done and should be punished. God’s grace, mercy, and love says I come to restore the shamed and will use that shame for MY purpose!

Oh here is another part I JUST LOVE!!!! Gen 3:21: “And the Lord God made for Adam and his wife garments of skins and clothed them”. Just as God covered them with garments of skin, He covers us with His mercy, grace, and Love. God didn’t say to Adam & Eve disobeyed me and therefore you will not be clothed but exposed. He didn’t mock the coverings they attempted to put on made with fig leaves that really wasn’t something that would protect them. HE HAD COMPASSION covered them with coverings made from skin that kept them warm! He didn’t have to do that, He could have punished them and let that be it. BUT GOD! Do you feel shame from a sinful act? Come out from shame and be restored. Redemption is here. God will get the glory out of your life!
